About Us

Who We Are:

CANY is dedicated to promoting Cuban art with a focus on works created by artists living outside Cuba.

 

Artists have left Cuba in large numbers and face great challenges  -some had government support for their work, some were ostracized for political reasons, but all must build new lives uprooted from their homeland. The angst this generates inspires their work and gives a special quality to their creations.

CANY is nonprofit 501 (c) (3) organization founded in 2001.

​

Mission Statement:

To advance and preserve the work of contemporary Cuban artists living outside of Cuba.

​

Objectives:

To create a forum for the appreciation and understating of Cuban art. 

To educate the public about Cuban art created outside the island.

To support Cuban artists in the diaspora and provide opportunities to promote and sell their work.
